Overview

Diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Israel have deteriorated following a “comprehensive reset” by Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. In addition to economic measures and sanctions against individuals and organizations facilitating expansion, the UK has pledged £88 million for humanitarian and early recovery support in Gaza. While Miliband described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “indescribably terrible,” the policy shift has faced criticism from the Stop the War Coalition, which accused the Foreign Secretary of hypocrisy regarding the government’s prosecution of pro-Palestine protesters.
