UK supermarket fuel discount promotions

In mid‑July 2026 Asda introduced a fuel‑price discount for customers who spend at least £40 using its Rewards app, signalling supermarkets’ move to use fuel savings as a shopping incentive.

Later that month, Tesco rolled out its own scheme, offering a 5 % discount on petrol and diesel at its forecourts for shoppers who spend £60 in a single transaction. The promotion, redeemable via paper coupons until late August, provides up to 8 p per litre and caps the discount at £10 per driver. Tesco’s offer excludes pay‑at‑pump pumps, unmanned sites, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and its Express outlets.

Both initiatives appear against a backdrop of rising UK fuel prices – petrol near £1.60 per litre and diesel above £1.75 – with supermarket forecourts being promoted as cheaper alternatives to branded pumps.
