Narayan pledged to monitor AI’s impact on employment, promote AI‑driven job‑matching, and address concerns about AI‑based screening in hiring, while Burnham warned that such practices could disadvantage young job seekers.

By late August, Narayan was confirmed as Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and chair of the AI Taskforce, led by Lord Vallance. As the UK pursues AI superpower status, the expansion of digital infrastructure has raised concerns regarding energy demand, with estimates suggesting data centres could require an additional 6GW of electricity capacity by 2030.
