Ukraine continues to progress the Freyja anti‑ballistic‑missile system, a project involving a coalition of ten countries including Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. The system aims to provide a lower-cost alternative to the American Patriot system, which currently faces supply constraints. A flagship component is the FP-7.x rocket developed by Fire Point. Utilizing composite materials to reduce costs, the rocket features an infrared guidance head from Germany’s Diehl. Testing has demonstrated the rocket reaching altitudes of 25 km and speeds of approximately Mach 6.5, enabling it to engage targets at hypersonic velocities. Despite technical progress, the project faces significant hurdles. Iryna Terekh, the 34-year-old CEO of Fire Point and a former architect from Irpin, is leading the development of domestic weaponry.
