Ukrainian development of combat unmanned aerial systems
Overview
Ukrainian defense companies are introducing new unmanned aerial systems (UAS) designed for various combat roles.
SkyFall has unveiled the ‘Thor Hammer’, a medium-range attack drone capable of flying between 350 and 600 kilometers. Designed to target supply depots, command posts, and air defense systems, the drone carries a warhead of 40 to 50 kilograms. While the manufacturer claims the system is already in use at the front lines, these reports have not been independently verified.
Skyeton has introduced Stormbird, a fixed-wing tactical UAV designed for autonomous and remotely guided precision strike missions. Built on the architecture of the existing Raybird reconnaissance system, Stormbird can carry glide munitions, loitering munitions, or communications relay modules. The company stated the design utilizes operational flight experience from the conflict to improve stealth and resistance to electronic warfare. Stormbird has completed codification with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and is currently being used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
