United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has advocated for a fundamental reset of UN peace operations and maritime security to address a global landscape marked by a resurgence of state-to-state conflict and intensified internal wars. Furthermore, he continued to advocate for the reform of the United Nations and the Bretton Woods system to better reflect a multipolar world and increase the influence of developing nations.
