UN Caribbean sustainable development frameworks

Overview

The United Nations has established new Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (MSDCF) for the 2027–2031 period with several Caribbean nations.

Belize signed a regional framework intended to coordinate efforts across 22 countries and territories, focusing on education, climate action, justice reform, and health. The Bahamas signed its second five-year framework, prioritizing economic diversification, digital and green industries, and disaster resilience. Antigua and Barbuda also joined the agreement, which aims to address challenges specific to small island states, such as climate-related disasters, financing constraints, and economic dependence on narrow sectors.
