In late August and early September 2026, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) continued to expand its research, academic recognition, and infrastructure. The university formalized 17 new research projects through its 2026 Call for Scientific, Technological, and Humanistic Research Impulse. During this period, Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado honored alumna Dr. Xóchitl Almendra Hernández Torres and highlighted a new cooperation agreement with the Federal Judiciary (PJF). Academic quality was further validated as the university’s Public Accounting and Nursing programs received Level C distinction in the CENEVAL EGEL Plus High Academic Performance Registry. On September 1, 2026, UAT signed a strategic agreement with the Government of Tamaulipas and the Regional Livestock Union of Tamaulipas (UGRT). Simultaneously, seven UAT teams were approved for scholarships in the 2026 Technology-Based Business Incubation Program, and the Center for Research and Development in Port, Maritime, and Coastal Engineering (CIDIPORT) entered an agreement to address coastal erosion in Veracruz. By early September, the university had edited over 80 books. Following this, the university announced applications for the 2027 Disney Cultural Exchange Program. On September 11, 2026, the university held its 2026 Research Day at the Tampico Campus South, featuring 160 researchers and 32 interactive stands. Dora María Lladó Lárraga, Director of Research, stated the initiative aims to “make knowledge a universal common good” and encourage youth to pursue scientific careers. ~~Additionally, researchers~~ Researchers led by Dr. Alberto Reyna Maldonado at the Unidad Académica Multidisciplinaria Reynosa Rodhe (UAMRR) are developing a portable, non-invasive robotic prototype for early breast cancer detection using microwave imaging to identify tumors smaller than one millimeter. This system uses an algorithm to process microwave signals and analyze electrical changes in tissue to produce images. On September 17, 2026, UAT celebrated its 76th anniversary with a ceremony at the Centro Universitario Sur.
