U.S. FDA food and drug recalls

Overview

Throughout July and August 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued numerous recalls across the food, pharmaceutical, and pet food sectors.

In July, recalls involved a variety of items including seafood, frozen produce, and pet food, primarily due to undeclared allergens, bacterial contamination, or foreign objects. Specific concerns included possible E. coli in blueberries, Salmonella in moringa leaf capsules, and metal or plastic fragments in Pedigree wet dog food.

In August, the scope of recalls continued with safety concerns regarding Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination, physical contaminants such as glass or aluminum slivers, and undeclared allergens like eggs, fish, and gluten. Notable August recalls included pistachio nut butter, various jalapeno-based products, and Adequan injections for animals due to visible glass fiber material. Additionally, a labeling error prompted a recall for Morphine Sulfate Injection USP.
