US firms raise 2026 profit outlooks

Overview

In late July and early August 2026, Xylem and Waters Corp announced upward revisions to their 2026 earnings and revenue forecasts. Xylem lifted its adjusted earnings target to $5.55‑$5.70 per share and projected revenue of about $9.2 billion, citing stronger demand for water‑treatment equipment from AI‑intensive sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, power generation and mining. Waters Corp raised its adjusted profit outlook to $14.45‑$14.65 per share and revenue to $6.42‑$6.48 billion after a strong Q2, driven by laboratory‑instrument sales and growth in its biosciences and diagnostics businesses.

A week later, Waters reiterated its outlook, while Revvity Inc and Cencora Inc also lifted their 2026 guidance. Revvity increased its profit forecast to $5.30‑$5.40 per share and expects annual sales of $2.83‑$2.86 billion, noting an 11% rise in diagnostics sales and robust demand for drug‑development tools. Cencora raised its adjusted profit target to $17.75‑$17.95 per share after reporting $84.75 billion in revenue, with U.S. healthcare sales up 4.9% on specialty medicines and GLP‑1 drugs, and maintained a revenue growth outlook of 4%‑6% for the year.

On 4 August, Revvity issued a further update, again raising its 2026 profit and revenue outlook. The company posted Q2 adjusted profit of $1.41 per share and revenue of $730 million, both above estimates, and revised its full‑year sales range to $2.83‑$2.86 billion. Diagnostics revenue grew 11% year‑over‑year to $371 million, while the life‑sciences unit fell 3% amid a 20% decline in its Signals software business. CFO Max Krakowiak said pharma and biotech customers are returning to normal patterns and AI‑related work is creating new demand. Despite the upbeat guidance, Revvity’s shares slipped about 5% in early trading.

These successive upgrades across multiple U.S. technology and healthcare firms reflect accelerating demand in high‑tech, laboratory and medical markets, prompting analysts to adjust price targets and sustain positive ratings.
