US-Iran airstrike campaign assessment

A U.S. intelligence report released on July 24 concluded that weeks of airstrikes against Iran had not weakened Tehran’s negotiating stance or altered its core demands, noting that Iran could absorb the pressure for months. The assessment reported civilian casualties in Iran and U.S. service‑member deaths in the region.

Two days later, CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper echoed the intelligence findings, stating that the two‑week campaign had failed to achieve its objectives and urging the White House to cease further bombings. He added that a ground operation was unlikely despite the campaign’s limited impact. A Pentagon briefing also highlighted inconsistencies in casualty reporting, with revised figures for U.S. personnel killed and injured.

Both briefings indicate a consensus within the U.S. defense and intelligence establishments that the aerial offensive has been ineffective, prompting calls to halt further strikes while the broader diplomatic impasse remains unresolved.
