Overview
Recent developments in U.S. missile defense and strike capabilities involve significant multi-billion dollar contracts for Lockheed Martin and its partners.
L3Harris Technologies secured a $4.7 billion, seven-year agreement with Lockheed Martin to produce propulsion components for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor. This includes the production of advanced two-pulse solid rocket motors, Lethality Enhancer systems, and Attitude Control Motors. To support this, L3Harris is constructing two new production facilities in Camden, Arkansas, expected to be operational by 2027.
Separately, the U.S. Army awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.2 billion contract for the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Increment 2. This system, also known as the Land-Based Anti-Ship Missile (LBASM), is designed to expand capabilities to maritime strike operations using a combination of electro-optical infrared sensors and GPS/INS guidance. This contract is scheduled for completion by September 2031.
