US professor murder in Hsinchu

On 14 July 2026, a 43‑year‑old American professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tong University entered a music shop in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and stabbed his brother‑in‑law, the store manager Ji, more than 30 times, killing him. Police arrived, engaged the suspect in a standoff, and fired four shots to his legs before arresting him. The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.
