US sanctions on Iran-linked networks
Entities: Scott Bessent · Mahan Air · United States · Skiez Travels and Logistics Private Limited · Shanghai Wings International Logistics Co
Overview
In late July 2026 the United States intensified its campaign against Iranian financial and logistical channels that support the regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. On 24 July, the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control added four individuals and nine entities tied to billionaire Babak Zanjani’s “Dot One” conglomerate to its sanctions list. The designations covered firms in Iran, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, a fintech platform in Istanbul, digital‑asset exchanges, precious‑metal producers, transport companies and an $800 million rail contract awarded in April 2025.
A week later, on 30‑31 July, the Treasury imposed sanctions on six additional parties in India, China, Russia and Iran for providing logistics, financial or commercial assistance to Iran’s airline Mahan Air, a carrier identified as serving the IRGC. The list included sales‑agent firms in India and China, a Russian cargo company and a front that collected location data on U.S. and Israeli equipment. Both actions were described by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as aimed at cutting the financial lifelines and supply chains that fund terrorist and destabilising activities.
Together, the two rounds of sanctions illustrate a broader U.S. strategy of pairing financial pressure with heightened military activity in the Gulf to curb Iran’s ability to fund the IRGC and other destabilising operations.
