US Special Operations maritime autonomy contract

Overview

The U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) has entered into a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with Sea Machines Robotics to integrate autonomous technology into maritime operations.

The agreement focuses on the deployment of SM300-SP autonomy kits, which serve as a “drop-in” capability for various vessels. These kits are designed to be compatible with a wide range of craft, including commercial vessels and partner nation platforms, without being restricted to a specific hull type.

Utilizing TALOS software and various sensors such as radar, GNSS, and AIS, the technology enables vessels to function as remote-controlled or autonomous unmanned platforms. The system is intended to support missions involving expeditionary logistics, maritime security, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) at the tactical edge.
