US women's college basketball season openers

The women's college basketball season commenced with several matchups. Arizona State secured an 84–41 victory against Jackson State at Desert Financial Arena. Although Jackson State established an early lead, including an 11–2 surge in the first quarter, Arizona State took control to lead 34–21 at halftime and maintained the advantage through the second half. Tillman also recorded 11 rebounds, contributing to a 48–28 rebounding advantage for Mississippi. The Rebels maintained control throughout the game, ending with a 16–2 run late in the fourth quarter. The victory extended Mississippi's winning streak in the series against Alcorn State to 21 games.
