USEP academic and infrastructure expansion

Overview

The Universidad de la Salud del Estado de Puebla (USEP) has initiated a significant expansion of its academic capacity and infrastructure. At the start of the 2026-2027 academic cycle, the university reported an enrollment of 3,515 students, a figure that includes 1,570 additional students compared to the previous year. To manage this growth, some new students were directed to the Instituto de Profesionalización del Magisterio Poblano (IPMP).

Following this enrollment surge, the university has moved forward with regional infrastructure projects. A new campus in Yaonáhuac is currently under construction with an investment of approximately 60 million pesos, aiming to serve a potential population of 6,540 students across 12 municipalities. While the Yaonáhuac site is expected to reach completion in January 2027, other regional sites in Izúcar de Matamoros, Tepexi de Rodríguez, and Zoquitlán are reported as 100 percent complete and awaiting inauguration.
