Overview

The government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced several welfare and employment initiatives. Initially, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services Corporation (UPCOS) to regulate the rights of approximately 350,000 to 500,000 outsourced workers. This initiative utilizes a digital portal to manage human resources, eliminate middlemen, and ensure timely salary payments by the 5th of each month. The framework includes social security benefits such as EPF, ESI, and medical coverage, alongside accident insurance of up to 4 million rupees and wage revisions every five years.

Following this, the state announced further social security measures, including insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for advocates. The government also committed to creating 100,000 government jobs over a six-month period starting September 19, with 77,000 positions allocated to the Police and Home Guards departments. Additionally, plans were announced to increase pension amounts and the number of beneficiaries for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and destitute women.
