Overview

The Uttar Pradesh government has implemented several welfare and financial enhancements for community workers across the state.

In late August, the administration announced a package for approximately 3.53 lakh cooks under the PM Poshan scheme. The state also introduced a ₹5 lakh annual cashless medical facility and amended maternity leave rules following a High Court ruling.

By early September, similar measures were extended to approximately 328,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers. Monthly honorariums for workers were raised from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000, while helpers saw an increase from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000. This package also includes the ₹5 lakh annual cashless medical facility, the distribution of smartphones, and a saree allowance provided via Direct Benefit Transfer.
