Valheim transitions to version 1.0

Overview

Iron Gate Studio has officially transitioned the Viking survival game Valheim from Early Access to its full 1.0 version. Following more than five years in development, the launch marks a major milestone for the title, which has sold over 17 million copies.

The 1.0 update introduces the Deep North, a massive new frozen biome featuring icy landscapes, tundra, and new hostile creatures. This expansion brings significant content additions, including over 40 new weapons, 4 new armor sets, new tools, more than 80 building pieces, and various new crafting stations. The update also includes cinematic victory sequences, over 50 achievements, and improved technical options such as adjustable render distance.

Valheim is also expanding its platform availability to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with support for cross-play across all platforms. While cross-play is supported, cross-save functionality is currently limited to the Xbox ecosystem. As part of the transition to a full release, the game’s price is expected to increase for new players.
