Kalwinder Singh Dosanjh, a 26-year veteran of the Vancouver Police Department and founder of the Surrey-based KidsPlay Foundation, has been charged with multiple criminal offences following a two-and-a-half-year covert investigation. The charges against Dosanjh include four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and one count of breach of trust by a public officer. Investigators allege the criminal activity, which is related to housing developments, occurred between 2017 and 2025. Police report that 19 victims have identified losses totaling approximately $3 million. Some of the charges specifically relate to the KidsPlay Foundation organization. A co-accused, Sarabjit Singh Gill, faces three counts of fraud and three counts of theft over $5,000. Police have identified Dosanjh, a former senior detective in the financial crimes unit, as a business associate of Gill. Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai described the situation as “deeply concerning.” Dosanjh has been suspended from the department department.
