Vasco da Gama club leadership and election dispute

Tensions have risen within Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama as supporters and club leadership prepare for presidential elections in November.

In late July, a faction of supporters released a manifesto criticizing the current administration of Pedro Paulo and Felipe. The group highlighted significant financial expenditures, noting that nearly R$ 600 million had been spent on the football squad by May 2026, a figure they argued had not yielded sufficient results on the pitch. The manifesto called for a rejection of “speculative” ownership and a return to transparent, professional management that respects the club’s working-class heritage.

By late August, the club’s Deliberative Board officially convened to initiate the electoral process. The board established eligibility requirements for voters and candidates, while noting that the upcoming election will also determine representation within the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) administrative council. While the current president, Pedrinho, has not yet officially announced his candidacy, the election is expected to be a decisive moment for the club’s governance and its relationship with potential investors.
