Vasco da Gama is facing significant legal and administrative challenges regarding its financial management and corporate structure. Initially, the São Paulo Court ordered the foreign investment firm 777 to regularize its procedural representation, including providing sworn translations of corporate documents and proving local legal standing, before it could proceed with a petition against Almirante Participações. Concurrently, the club’s Deliberative Council rejected the 2025 financial statements, citing “poor management”, a lack of transparency, and issues such as administrative errors and stalled renovations.

Following these developments, a judge in Rio de Janeiro blocked a R$ 150 million Debtor-in-Possession (DIP) emergency loan requested by the club as part of its judicial recovery process. Judge Simone Gastesi Chevrand ruled that no new debt can be contracted until an audit by ICTS is initiated and a summary report is presented. This audit process is expected to take between 15 and 30 days.

The court mandated that audit fees must be covered by 777 Carioca LLC, though Vasco SAF has the option to deposit 60% of the fees to expedite the 15-day countdown for the report. The club has expressed urgency, noting that available cash reserves could be exhausted as early as this week. This financial freeze poses a significant challenge to the club’s sporting planning, as the funds were intended for operational costs and player acquisitions during a transfer window set to close in approximately 24 days.
