Vehicle arsons in Žilina region, Slovakia

Overview

A series of vehicle arsons has been reported in and around the Žilina region of Slovakia. Since March, at least 16 vehicles have been affected by fires.

Specific incidents include an Audi fire in Žilina in August, a Škoda Enyaq fire in Kysucké Nové Mesto in September, and an intentional fire in Žilinská Lehota on October 7. The latter incident resulted in estimated damages of approximately 15,000 euros. While firefighters have confirmed some incidents were intentional, the motives and whether the fires are linked to a single perpetrator or multiple individuals remain unknown.
