Vehicle theft and pursuit incidents in Derry

Overview

Authorities in Derry and surrounding areas have responded to a series of vehicle-related crimes. Initially, police issued appeals for public assistance, including CCTV and dashcam footage, to investigate vehicle break-ins and attempted thefts occurring in the Hollymount Park and Chapel Road areas of Derry, as well as incidents in Bridgnorth.

Following these reports, the situation escalated into active pursuits. On October 18, police in Derry reported the theft of three cars from residential areas including Woodbrook, Parklands, and Victoria Gate. During the response, officers used a stinger device to stop a stolen Mercedes, while a white Kia Sorrento was driven toward the border before three occupants fled. Two 25-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of offenses including dangerous driving and taking motor vehicles without authority. Related police activity involving pursuits and arrests also occurred in North Dublin.
