Venezuelan law enforcement crime investigations

Overview

Venezuelan law enforcement agencies have reported several successful operations targeting violent crime, organized crime, and fraud.

In Zulia and Yaracuy, the Cicpc resolved two homicide investigations. In Maracaibo, a suspect was arrested for killing a woman with a wooden bench following a debt dispute. In Yaracuy, two brothers were detained for the fatal beating of a man on the Yumare-Tucacas highway.

Subsequent operations by the Bolivarian National Guard and the National Bolivarian Police targeted organized crime and financial fraud. In Maracaibo, an individual linked to the ‘El Caracas’ group was arrested for suspected drug trafficking and extortion, resulting in the seizure of cocaine and ammunition. In Falcón state, a 19-year-old was detained in connection with an Instagram-based fraud scheme that allegedly defrauded over 50 victims through false promises of international retail deliveries.
