Venus and Moon celestial alignments

Overview

In mid-August, the Moon and Venus appeared side by side in the western sky within the constellation Virgo. During this period, Venus was visible as a crescent approximately 48% lit, with the star Spica located to the upper left of the Moon.

By mid-September, the celestial arrangement evolved into a triangle formed by Venus, a waxing crescent Moon, and Spica. The Moon's illumination decreased to approximately 9% to 10%. This alignment served as a precursor to a closer encounter expected on the following day, when the Moon was projected to pass directly in front of Venus for observers across parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia.
