President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Rocío Nahle García inaugurated a new two-kilometer road distributor at the Port of Veracruz. The project, which had been requested for over a decade, was completed three months ahead of schedule with an investment of approximately 860 million pesos. The infrastructure is intended to separate long-distance freight from urban traffic, potentially reducing travel times by up to 50 minutes for the more than 34,000 vehicles using the intersection daily. During the same visit, the administration highlighted progress in the ‘Vivienda para el Bienestar’ (Housing for Well-being) program. The government has set a goal to deliver over 107,000 new homes in Veracruz during the current term, with approximately 59 percent of that goal—representing roughly 63,896 units already units—already under contract or in construction. Sheinbaum noted that increases in the minimum wage have helped capitalize social security institutions, stating that Infonavit currently holds 1.14 trillion pesos.
