In early August 2026, Veracruz’s state government highlighted cultural tourism by launching the Culturabús program, which brought visitors from seven Mexican states to the historic centre. Tourists toured the Casa Museo Benito Juárez and the Centro Cultural Leyes de Reforma, and the city’s Macroplaza served as the main gathering point for the Pan American race, underscoring the region’s heritage and motor‑sport appeal.

Two days later, officials announced a broader push to expand Veracruz’s tourism infrastructure. Governor Rocío Nahle unveiled a remodeling project for the World Trade Center in Boca del Río that will more than double its capacity, aiming to attract larger conventions and concerts. Simultaneously, the state tourism secretary detailed negotiations to bring cruise ships back to the port, targeting North‑American cruise lines and projecting the arrival of up to 3,000 tourists per ship within a year to a year‑and‑a‑half.
