Vessev electric hydrofoil expansion
Overview
Auckland-based marine technology company Vessev has secured approximately NZ$32.6 million (US$19 million) in Series A and follow-on funding to facilitate its expansion into the United States market.
The investment round was led by Blackbird Ventures, with participation from GD1, Rypples, K1W1, Icehouse Ventures, Shasta Ventures, and NZVC. Vessev intends to use the capital to accelerate the serial production of its VS-9 electric hydrofoiling vessel, expand its global go-to-market team, and advance its onboard software and telemetry platforms. The company also aims to support future manufacturing plans within the United States.
As part of its U.S. entry, Vessev has secured FlyTahoe, a sustainable water transit operator in Lake Tahoe, California, as its first American commercial customer. The company’s VS-9 vessel, named Kermadec, has been shipped to the U.S. for demonstrations at New York Climate Week and in Washington, D.C.
