Video game releases for Nintendo Switch 2

Overview

Various video game titles have been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2 platform.

In early September, Neon Giant announced that ‘The Ascent Ultimate Edition’ would launch digitally on the Nintendo eShop on December 3, 2026. This edition includes the base cyberpunk RPG and three DLC packs. Pre-orders for the title were scheduled to begin on October 6.

Following this, Aspyr announced the ‘Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle’ for the Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on September 30, 2026. The bundle, which includes ‘Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition’ and ‘Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition’, represents the first time these titles will be available on a Nintendo platform.

Both titles in the bundle feature the procedural ‘Nemesis System’, where enemies react to and remember previous encounters. These editions include all major story expansions and downloadable content, such as ‘Lord of the Hunt’ and ‘Desolation of Mordor’. Digital pre-orders were available at a 50% discount, pricing the full bundle at $34.99.

As of September 30, 2026, Aspyr has officially released the bundle. While the games are now available on the new hardware, it is noted that the Nemesis system remains restricted within the industry. Warner Bros. was granted a patent for the system in 2021, which is set to remain in effect until 2036, preventing other developers from utilizing similar mechanics.

Regarding the Switch 2 version of ‘Shadow of War’, Aspyr noted that the Garrison mode will be fully playable offline, although certain online features, specifically ‘Online Conquests and Fight Pits’, will be unavailable. Due to hardware optimization, other online elements such as ‘Vendettas’ and ‘Training Orders’ will also be unavailable.
