Vietnam-China cross-border law enforcement
Overview
Vietnamese authorities have conducted several operations involving the apprehension of Chinese nationals, including fugitives and individuals attempting illegal entry.
In mid-August, Da Nang police, working with the Ministry of Public Security, arrested five Chinese nationals wanted by Chinese authorities. This included the arrest of Wang Hongjian in late July at a hotel in the Ngu Hanh Son district, who was subsequently handed over to Chinese officials at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate.
Further investigations in late August revealed separate incidents of illegal border crossings. In Quang Ninh province, an individual was prosecuted for transporting 12 Chinese citizens into the country via vehicle. Additionally, in Tay Ninh province, police intercepted Cao Jianbin, a Chinese national wanted internationally for telecommunications fraud, who was attempting to enter Vietnam illegally. Following verification through Interpol, Jianbin was handed over to Chinese authorities.
