Overview

Vietnam’s financial markets are undergoing structural evolution and recovery. In the corporate bond sector, issuances reached approximately 382.8 trillion VND during the first eight months of 2026, with the banking and real estate sectors representing 90.9% of the total value. Simultaneously, the State Treasury has mobilized 228,921.3 billion VND through government bond auctions year-to-date, primarily focusing on 5-year and 10-year tenors.

Efforts are underway to align the equity market with international institutional standards following a FTSE Russell upgrade. To further enhance market quality and meet long-term national capital demands, authorities are encouraging Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enterprises to list on the domestic stock market. Officials noted a significant disparity in this area: while FDI firms account for over three-quarters of export turnover, only 10 such companies are currently listed, representing roughly 0.15% of market value, with no new FDI listings recorded since 2017.
