Vietnam High School Graduation Exam

On 28 July 2026 Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu led a meeting with the Ministry of Education and Training, school officials and experts. Participants agreed to keep the national high‑school graduation exam unchanged, stressing its role in providing reliable data on teaching quality and guiding curriculum reforms. The discussion also covered anti‑cheating measures such as cross‑checks, increased use of technology and the development of a separate digital testing system, alongside broader reforms like reduced teaching loads and improved university admissions criteria.

The following day, the Education Ministry’s director, Huỳnh Văn Chương, addressed reports of procedural errors in the exam, calling them “isolated incidents” that did not reflect systemic problems. He acknowledged specific lapses – for example, mixing of candidates and procedural non‑compliance by some staff – and called for tighter oversight of vulnerable steps. Despite these issues, officials, including Deputy PM Lê Tiến Châu, reiterated unanimous support for retaining the exam, noting its high pass rate and its function in assessing core knowledge and nationwide fairness.
