Vietnam insurance market developments
Overview
The Vietnamese insurance market is experiencing shifts in corporate structure and distribution strategies. Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) has secured a license from the Ministry of Finance to establish ACB Insurance Co., Ltd., a non-life insurance entity headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City. The firm, which will be indirectly owned by ACB through its subsidiaries, has a charter capital of 500 billion VND and intends to focus on property and personal insurance.
Simultaneously, the bancassurance sector is seeing expanded strategic cooperation between life insurance providers and banks. Companies such as Shinhan Life Vietnam, Hanwha Life Vietnam, Chubb Life, and AIA Vietnam have established or expanded partnerships with various banking networks to distribute products like term life and investment-linked insurance. Data from the Vietnam Insurance Association indicates that bancassurance accounted for 44.9% of new premium revenue in the first half of 2026, making it the second-largest revenue contributor behind traditional agency channels.
