Vietnam continues to advance the Long Thanh International Airport project, targeting full commercial operation in December 2026. By early August, terminal construction was about 80 % complete, with walls, finishes, waterproofing, interior fittings and landscaping finished and key technical systems such as baggage‑handling, air‑bridge and fire‑protection largely installed. The Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) plans a three‑month trial‑run of airport operations from September to November 2026, while the Vietnam Aviation Administration (VATM) tests and calibrates navigation, surveillance and control systems. The final phase will complete electrical connections, integrate control systems and conduct safety checks before the operating licence is issued. The airport has attracted interest from major foreign carriers. A delegation from All Nippon Airways visited in early August to inspect runway 23L and the passenger terminal, signalling strong interest in future services. Korean Air also toured the site in July, evaluating passenger and cargo routes between Incheon and Long Thanh and considering additional connections to Vietnamese cities such as Quy Nhơn, Huế and Đà Lạt.
