Vietnam precious metals market volatility
Overview
The precious metals market in Vietnam experienced significant volatility during late September and October 2026.
In late September, gold prices in Vietnam saw substantial increases, with domestic brands like SJC, DOJI, and PNJ raising prices by 1 to 1.6 million VND per tael despite global fluctuations. In response to these market conditions, PNJ implemented a new buyback and exchange policy on September 30, introducing tiered payment timelines for different types of gold and gemstones.
By mid-October, the trend shifted toward a decline in silver prices. Both global and domestic markets saw downward movement, with silver prices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City decreasing. At Phu Quy Group, silver bar prices dropped significantly, reaching levels near 54.7 million VND/kg, a trend mirrored by other domestic providers such as DOJI.
