In July 2026 2026, Vietnam selected five villages to compete for the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s “Best Rural Tourism Village” Villages” award. The nominees are include Hữu Liên in Lạng Sơn Province, Cát Cát in Lào Cai Province, Làng Lò in Đắk Lắk, Bảy Mẫu Cẩm Thanh in Đà Nẵng Nẵng, and the Măng Đen Treehouse project in Quảng Ngãi. Hữu Liên, noted nicknamed “mini Mongolia” for its grassland meadow, limestone scenery grasslands and horse‑riding experiences, free-roaming horses, was highlighted on 25 July. The village features the Dong Lam meadow, which offers activities such as camping and horse riding. Cát Cát, a village over 150 years old known for its 150‑year‑old traditional wooden houses and traditional local crafts, were highlighted in separate announcements was announced on 25 July and 30 July. Làng Lò, a fishing village with over 400 years of history and distinctive red-tiled roofs, was also confirmed as a nominee. The final award results are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
