Vietnam Women's Union 96th anniversary celebrations

The Vietnam Women's Union announced a series of activities to commemorate its 96th anniversary and Vietnamese Women's Day. Initial plans included the 2026 Vietnam Women Award, the second Nguyen Thi Dinh Award, and the launch of a 2027 entrepreneurship competition focused on elevating Vietnamese brands through innovation and AI support.

On October 16, 2026, a central ceremony was held in Hanoi where five collectives and 12 individuals received the 2026 Vietnam Women's Awards for contributions to fields such as scientific research and regenerative medicine. Notable recipient Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep was honored for her pioneering work in regenerative medicine, while Trinh Thi Hong Van, Chairwoman of Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest, was also recognized. Additionally, 32 union officials were presented with the Nguyen Thi Dinh Award for their dedication to the women’s movement and community development. During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc emphasized the necessity of supporting women-led startups and digital transformation, noting that women are a “crucial driver of national development.”

National leaders, including National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, also met with female National Assembly deputies to honor their contributions. In Quang Ninh, local authorities highlighted the increasing role of women in the political system, noting their significant presence in party committees and leadership roles.

Regional and international celebrations expanded the scope of the festivities. In Ho Chi Minh City, photographer Nguyen Linh Vinh Quoc won first prize in the “Women with Life” photography competition. In Can Tho, city leaders held dialogues with female cadres regarding digital transformation. International engagement included the second congress of the Vietnam Women's Association in the Kansai region of Japan to strengthen diaspora connections. Other activities included charitable health insurance donations in Di An and cultural performances in military units.
