In late July 2026, two Vietnamese carriers announced new nonstop services from Ho Chi Minh City to foreign destinations. Vietjet Air announced a thrice-weekly Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo flight starting 18 August 2026. To promote the route, the airline offered a three-day promotion from 21 to 23 July 2026, featuring zero-dong Eco-class tickets (excluding taxes and fees) and 20 kg of free baggage for travel through 31 March 2027. The airline noted the service would boost tourism, family travel, and commercial links while connecting Sri Lankan passengers to its wider Asia-Pacific network. A week later, Vietravel Airlines disclosed a direct Ho Chi Minh City–Shenzhen service beginning 15 August 2026, targeting business travelers, trade-fair participants, and tourists. The airline signed a strategic cooperation agreement and opened a General Sales Agent in Shenzhen to support upcoming APEC activities in the Greater Bay Area and explore future connections to cities like Chongqing, Kunming, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. On 16 August 2026, Vietravel Airlines officially launched the Ho Chi Minh City–Shenzhen route, becoming the only Vietnamese carrier to operate this specific direct service. The approximately 2-hour-and-50-minute flight aims to facilitate investment, trade, and tourism, serving as a corridor to China’s technology and manufacturing hub. The airline also expressed plans to integrate cultural experiences into the travel journey. Expanding its regional reach, Vietjet announced it will launch its first service at Clark International Airport in the Philippines on 10 November 2026. The new route will provide three weekly round-trip flights between Clark and Ho Chi Minh City. Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp. noted the service is expected to strengthen international connectivity, serving as an alternative gateway to Vietnam for travelers from Central and Northern Luzon.
