To mark Vietnam’s 81st National Day, various celebrations centered on the traditional Ao dai have taken place both domestically and internationally. In Vietnam, public figures and artists have used the attire to express patriotism. Beauty queen Tô Diệp Hà shared a photo series in Hội An, while Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyến wore a red Ao dai with a yellow star to honor national heritage. In Thailand, the inaugural ‘Miss Vietnamese Ao Dai - Thailand’ competition was held in Udon Thani. The event served Thani to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand. Vietnamese Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh noted that culture acts as a bridge between the two nations, using the Ao dai as a ‘cultural ambassador’. The event explores the garment's evolution and its connection to Hanoi's urban identity. The program includes an exhibition of nearly 400 AI-generated canvas paintings reinterpreting historical imagery, alongside a collection of antique sewing machines and vintage vehicles from collector Dao Xuan Tinh. Visitors can participate in traditional tailoring experiences with artisans from Trach Xa Ao dai village, following the garment's transformation from Giao Linh and Ngu Than styles to modern Le Pho and Raglan designs. The event concludes with a fashion show featuring 15 collections inspired by Hanoi's architecture and culture.
