Vietnamese provincial land reclamation and auctions

Overview

Local authorities in Vietnam are reclaiming and auctioning land plots across different provinces due to project delays, expired leases, or legal disputes.

In Thai Nguyen, the provincial government approved a plan to auction 3.0657 hectares of land in 2026. This includes land reclaimed from Trung Tin Joint Stock Company following years of project delays, as well as plots for commercial projects and a sports training center.

In Dong Nai, authorities conducted a forced seizure of approximately 14 hectares in Tran Bien ward. The land, previously associated with Tan Mai Paper Company and later acquired by Hung Thinh Construction Production Trading Joint Stock Company through a bad debt auction, was reclaimed by the government following the expiration of a state lease. A legal challenge by the company to contest the reclamation was dismissed by the court.
