Vietnamese TikToker investment fraud sentencing
Overview
In August 2026, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced Vietnamese TikToker Nguyễn Lê Kiều Vy to 18 years in prison for “fraudulent appropriation of property.” Operating the channel “Kiều Vy Official,” Vy and accomplice Lý Kim Yến defrauded 12 victims of more than 15 billion VND between 2018 and 2023 by promising false franchise deals and investment projects.
Lý Kim Yến received a 10-year prison sentence. The court found that the defendants misrepresented their ability to secure investments and took collateral, such as land and houses, without delivering the promised business opportunities.
