Viktor Lenac shipyard financial fraud investigation

Overview

The Viktor Lenac shipyard in Croatia is navigating a period of recovery following a significant financial fraud incident. While the company recently celebrated its 130th anniversary and reported optimistic business indicators with full docks, it has been dealing with the aftermath of a high-tech fraud totaling approximately 9 million euros.

The Rijeka County State Attorney's Office has launched an investigation into the shipyard’s former president of the board. The 57-year-old suspect is under investigation for suspected abuse of trust in business operations. It is alleged that the suspect approved seven payments in March that bypassed internal rules and required checks, resulting in damages of approximately 8,988,860 euros. These funds were transferred to bank accounts outside of Croatia before being forwarded by unknown parties. The suspect resigned from her position in March following the incident.
