Villa González councilman home robbery
Overview
In late September, two hooded individuals entered the home of Villa González councilman Manuel Eduardo Torres and his wife, tying them up in the kitchen. The assailants stole approximately RD$200,000 in cash, US$2,000, and various valuables from the residence, which also functioned as a pawn shop.
By mid-October, authorities made progress in the investigation. Two individuals, Luis Miguel Sánchez Lebrón (alias ‘Lebrón’) and Justo Ramón Durán Jiménez (alias ‘Tatuaje’ or ‘El Fuerte’), had been arrested, and 14-karat gold jewelry believed to be stolen was recovered. Subsequently, a third suspect, Luciano Mendoza Santos (known as ‘El Son’ or ‘Edison’), surrendered to the National Police accompanied by legal counsel and family members.
