Reports from the first seven months of 2026 indicate varying trends in violence against women across different Mexican regions. In Baja California Sur, domestic violence investigations increased by approximately 9.2% compared to the same period in 2025. Data from the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública (SESNSP) shows 2,103 investigation files were opened, with Los Cabos and La Paz accounting for roughly 89% of the state’s total. In July 2026 alone, 333 domestic violence investigations were initiated, averaging approximately 10 cases per day. The state’s rate of domestic violence per 100,000 inhabitants is reported at 192.03, which is significantly higher than the national average of 102.91. In other regions, Mexicali in Baja California recorded high levels of feminicides, ranking ninth nationally. While the National Public Security System reported four cases in Mexicali, state authorities documented five. In Yucatán, 34 women died due to violence during the same period, including four ~~feminicides.~~ feminicides and several homicides. Yucatán also ranks as the tenth most affected state in Mexico regarding economic and sexual violence, with health officials treating 737 women for various forms of violence.
