Violence and body discoveries in Hidalgo

Overview

In late September 2026, authorities in Hidalgo reported two separate violent incidents. In the Tula region, a male corpse was discovered in a sewage canal in Tezontepec de Aldama, prompting an investigation by the Hidalgo Attorney General’s Office. Concurrently, in Tlaxcoapan, armed individuals interrupted a children’s party, resulting in a man being shot in the abdomen.

By mid-October, the situation involving human remains in the region escalated with the discovery of five bodies in a clandestine grave in the locality of Texas, within the municipality of Atotonilco de Tula. This discovery was the result of a joint operation by the Hidalgo State Commission for the Search of Persons and the State Attorney General’s Office. Forensic procedures are ongoing to identify the victims and determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
