Mid‑June 2026 marked the start of a wave of firearm attacks that quickly moved beyond its initial epicentre. Early July, three women were violence in Guanajuato included killings in Salamanca and León, as well as an armed assault in Salamanca’s La Tinaja community that killed a woman and wounded a man. The following day civilian victims were wounded in Zamora and Irapuato, prompting municipal inquiries.
