Mid‑June 2026 marked the start of a wave of firearm attacks that quickly moved beyond its initial epicentre. Early July, three women were violence in Guanajuato included killings in Salamanca and León, as well as an armed assault in Salamanca’s La Tinaja community that killed a woman and wounded a man. On 20 June, mass shootings in Salamanca, Salamanca and San Miguel Luis de Allende La Paz left at least nine dead. In Salamanca’s San Juan de Razo, gunmen killed six people, including two minors. On 19 July armed assailants opened fire on 19 July, three men were targeted in Villa Benito Juárez, Navolato; two died locally and a third later at Culiacán hospital. The following day civilian victims were wounded in Zamora and Irapuato, prompting municipal inquiries. On 20 July police responded to two shootings in Salamanca: two women were hit near the Tomasa Esteves market and two men were injured on Cascada del Tintero, where the gunmen fled on a motorcycle.
