Violent crime and arrests in Mexico
Overview
In October 2026, Mexican authorities reported several violent incidents and disappearances across multiple states.
In Puebla, Bryan Alexandro ‘N’ has been placed in pretrial detention for the feminicide of 24-year-old María Fernanda ‘N’, a former student of the Universidad De Las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). Following an investigation by the Puebla State Attorney General's Office (FGE), a judge ordered detention after an arrest warrant was executed on October 7 in San Bernardino Tlaxcalancingo. Authorities allege the suspect, who was the victim’s partner, caused her death by strangulation following a physical altercation at their shared residence in San Andrés Cholula on October 3. The suspect will remain in custody at the San Miguel prison during a four-month period for complementary investigation.
In Coahuila, Martín ‘N’ was arrested for the homicide of 21-year-old Abel Bernardo Castillo Peña. The victim’s body was located in a construction site in San Buenaventura; investigators believe he may have been lured to the location via a digital application.
Other reported incidents include the recovery of the body of 21-year-old university student Joan Francisco Díaz Rodríguez from the Pastita River in Guanajuato, following his disappearance on September 29.
In Guerrero, the State Attorney General's Office has offered a reward of 1.5 million pesos for information regarding seven farmers missing since September 24 in Ajuchitlán del Progreso. Families have identified five of the individuals in a video showing them being interrogated by men in camouflage, though human rights defenders have raised concerns regarding the video’s authenticity and potential coercion.
