Overview

Religious authorities in Catamarca announced the schedule for the Feast of the Protection of the Virgin of the Valley, which commemorates the 22nd anniversary of the September 7, 2004, earthquake and the bicentennial of the birth of Blessed Mamerto Esquiú. The festivities included a triduum starting September 4 and a procession where the authentic image of the Virgin was scheduled to travel to the Valle Chico area on September 5.

During the traditional Fiesta de la Protección, the image of Nuestra Señora del Valle visited the Police Sports Center on Route 38. This event marked the first time the image has left the Sanctuary for such a visit since 2010. The ceremony, attended by diocesan and security officials, included the blessing of a foundation stone for a future Police Chapel at the Tte. Gral. Juan Domingo Perón Cadet School.
